2017 Ridley Helium SLA Frameset

Crafted from 6000 series aluminum alloy, the new Helium SLA features double pass welding on the head and seat tubes for additional strength in these high stress areas.

Ridley aficionados will note that the tubing shape is quite similar to the race winning Helium SL carbon model. This is not by accident. These shapes are the optimum for maximizing stiffness for a given weight. Down tubes and top tubes are hydroformed and the rear seat stays are kept extremely thin to help dampen road shock and vibration. This creates a frame that has the pedal responsiveness of Ridley Carbon models in an alloy frame weighing about 1200 grams.

The frame is suitable for standard mechanical (cable actuated) shifting. All cables run internally within the frame for an extremely sleek look. Seat post diameter is 27.2 allowing the seat post to absorb some of the road shock normally associated with aluminum frame.
